The club was formed by John Bower, Rob Davidson and Sean Stobbs and affiliated to the Northumberland Association of Boys Clubs in November 1997, with the first official training session on Saturday 28th February 1998.

The Club name “Heaton Hawks F.C.” was chosen by the original club members. At that time there were very few clubs playing in royal blue so it was decided to make this our club colour, with yellow as the second strip.

After months of extreme hard work by the 3 lads and backed by the sponsorship of local firm, North East Garages, the club registered with the FA. Immediately they entered two teams into the 1998/1999 season of the N.A.B.C. League at Under 10 & Under 11 levels, playing at our base on The City Stadium, affectionately known as “The Tip”

This proved to be a very successful season with the Under 10's winning their league and the Central Youth Division Cup against West Denton. They also contested two other Cup Finals that season but although beaten, it was a great start for the Club. The Under 11's results didn't fair quite as well but were an excellent footballing team. Most of the players were stalwarts of the great Heaton Manor School team that did exceptionally well at Local, County and National level in the early 2000's
.
In 1998 the Club entered into discussions with the Football Association, Ouseburn Partnership and the City Council to upgrade a neglected tarmac area. Grants of £26,000 were secured and in May 1999 the all-weather training area at the Ouseburn was opened. This facility proved to be an invaluable asset to the Hawks during the early years.

The Club was starting to grow and grow and FA Charter Standard status was established in 2003. It was now time to move away from our original base at “The Tip” to a larger playing area to accommodate more teams. Some of our older teams moved to the “Old” Heaton Manor School site whilst Mini soccer was played at Benton Pk School and the KYPC Centre on Saturdays. When the old school was earmarked to be demolished in 2004 to fund the new school on Jesmond Park West, the Hawks took this opportunity to stake their claim to use the school field for their base. A constant battle ensued to claim this land but thanks to the green field policies of Sport England and the Council, this was eventually obtained. At present, due to certain constraints we aren’t allowed the lease but to the envy of many football clubs we obtained funding from various sources to firstly have new drainage implemented to the field and a perimeter fence erected. May 2010 sees the start of the new entrance and car park to the Coach lane end of the field and by the start of next season the new pavilion will have been build to house 4 changing rooms, 2 referees rooms , toilets, kitchen, small office and a small sitting area

With our new structure in place and development plans being formed it is with great pride we can now say we have 17 teams and over 250 members to complement the new MANOR PARK SPORTS GROUND
