KESTRE'L'S WIN 4v4 TOURNAMENT

The Kestrel's took part in the 1st NACYP 4v4 Footy Festival

This was a 4-a-side competition with no keepers. There was no ref just an observer, you had to pass at least once before you could score and every goal was worth a point, so this was a little different and took a bit of getting used to

We had 3 teams in the competition
Jay's team = Conner, Liam K, Ethan, Ryan and Sam

Scott's team = Tom, Liam C, Alan, Robert and Ismael

Tony+Jonny's team = Joe, Dale, Lewis, Tony and Tshoba

Scott's team were unlucky to got out after one of the teams they beat lost another game 11-9 so got 9 points to take them through

Tony+Jonny's team were very unlucky indeed after they won (or so they thought) the 1st game 7-4. However the observer had marked the score 5-5, even the other team admitted they had lost the game. That result put them out of the competition as the team the other team qualified. Jonny spat the dummy and started crying

It got better for us after that as Alan won the SKILLS Competition and somehow so did Joe but I think that more to do with necking on with the organiser. They both won tickets for Saturdays match between Newcastle v Preston

Tshoba and Lewis won the raffle and got more tickets for Saturdays match

Jay's team drew their 1st match then got the hang of it and went on to win every game from then on. We had a tough Semi and Final but ended up winning the competition and the trophy. Oh and more tickets for the match

I think everyone enjoyed the footy but they need to tweak a few things to make it a better competition. The NACYP wanted it to be a posession game after seeing the same game in Milan Italy, but giving points for each goal means teams are just going to try and score as soon as they can. Overall itwas a good competition and let's hope it's on again next year

Well done to the WINNERS, Conner, Liam K, Ethan, Ryan and Sam. You were unbeatable
