A bit of a disjointed performance this morning - probably complacency after last weeks win over the same team - too many players trying to do everything themselves and not passing to each other. We will have to play much better next week!, but credit must go to Cramlington for a much improved performance from last week.
A mix up in defence found us 1-0 down after 7 minutes, but we were back level half way through the half when Daniel W finished well from around the penalty spot and 3 minutes later he got his second following a James throw-in. Within another 3 minutes it should have been 3-1 when another Daniel W shot clearly crossed the line before being cleared, but unfortunately the referee was unsighted and played on despite the Cramlington linesman flagging for a goal!!!. We created more chances but some good defending and goalkeeping from Cramlington prevented us getting more goals.
Then in the last minute of the half, probably the most bizare goal of the season - when James thought he heard the refs whistle and caught the ball inside our penalty area - unfortunately the whistle was from the next pitch - Cramlington levelled from the spot to make the half-time score 2-2.
Daniel W finally did get his hat-trick when he burst onto a Nathan through ball and finished well (second hat-trick in successive games - well done fella!)
We were able to breathe a bit easier when Thomas ran on to a great through ball from Arif and showed terrific pace as he left the defence behind before an excellent finish, and then with time running out another great through ball, this time from James saw Thomas repeat the trick, this time taking the ball around the keeper before a cool finish.
Cramlington created more chances than we were comfortable with but Mitchell in the first half, and Gaurav in the second made good saves and perhaps the Cramlington finishing could have been better.
Finally, a thank-you to the parents for their assistance with the goalposts and respect barrier - it is appreciated and does make a big difference - thanks.
